Welling United are delighted to confirm the arrival of striker George Alexander on loan from Bromley until the end of the season.

The 21-year-old emerged through the ranks of Millwall’s academy and made his senior debut for the Lions in a trip to Wigan Athletic in May 2019.

While at the Den, Bexley-born Alexander embarked on a loan spell with Concord Rangers during the 2019/20 season, helping the Beach Boys reach the final of the FA Trophy.

The summer of 2021 saw him sign permanently for Bromley in the National League and he enjoyed a fruitful first season at Hayes Lane, finding the net six times in 30 outings last term.

This season has seen Alexander hit the net once in nine National League appearances – the opener in a 2-2 draw at Solihull Moors – and he now joins Warren Feeney’s squad in search of regular first-team football for the remainder of the campaign.

Speaking of his latest addition, Feeney said: “I want to thank the board and the club for getting this deal done. George is a great player. Just like his father, he’s a fantastic, all-round centre-forward and that’s what I’m looking forward to.

“He’s full of energy, he knows where the goal is and what’s to get about people. He’s fitted in well with the boys already and he adds competition for places.”

Alexander added: “I’m happy to be here, I want to get some minutes and, hopefully, score some goals for the club. I haven’t been playing as much this season, so the gaffer wanted to get me here to enjoy my football again.

“It’s perfect for me, it’s local and I just want to play games.”

The striker is a second-generation talent with his father Gary having enjoyed a successful career in professional football, representing the likes of Swindon Town, Hull City, Leyton Orient, Millwall, Brentford and Crawley Town.

He becomes the Wings’ third signing over a busy last week following the arrivals of Lodi Lyons-Foster and Kyrell Lisbie.

The Wings return to Park View Road on Saturday, February 4th to take on Dartford (3pm) in Vanarama National League South action.
