NEWS | Wings avoid relegation with win over Maidstone
Newly crowned Vanarama National League South champions, Maidstone United were the visitors to Park View Road yesterday (02/05/2022) in our final home game of the 2021/22 season.
It was the Wings who went in ahead at half time with Harvey Bradbury giving us a 25th minute lead with a close range header after Dipo Akinyemi had chipped the opposition keeper.
The away side equalised just over ten minutes into the second period through Hady Ghandour and all our good work could have been undone as Akinyemi was forced off with a knock.
Midway through the half, Bradley Stevenson restored the Wings’ lead with a scrappy finish, before Bradbury sealed the win and survival with his second of the game in injury time.
Joe Ellul added a second for Maidstone shortly after, but it wasn’t enough to stop Welling securing a famous victory and three all important points.
Watch below for reaction from both the boss and Harvey Bradbury, speaking to Wings TV.
We travel to Concord Rangers on Saturday 7th May for our final game of the season, with kick off at 3pm.

Sounds like “All Change” at the wings, I hope that means next season we will be the league leaders and not the strugglers. I have been attending PVR for 80 years with all its coming and goings.

Sounds like all change at PVR. Over the last 80 years I have been a regular attendant I have seen many changes. I hope next season the change will mean we are league leaders and not the league strugglers.
As a frustrated spectator, may I suggest that the name of the game is “FOOTBALL” and not “Airball”.
Look for your team mate and pass the ball to him, don’t lob it in the air and hope!!!!
Anyway, moan over, I will be there next season.
