Welling United make a swift return to Park View Road on Saturday as they look to bounce back from last weekend’s disappointment with a clash against Hemel Hempstead Town.

With the midweek trip to Chippenham Town falling foul to the weather, the Wings have had a week to prepare following the derby defeat to Hamlet and they will be hoping to make an improvement in their home form as we enter the second half of the season.

The match is very much a mid-table battle with 13th taking on 14th with three points for either side going a long way to helping their ambitions of a top-half finish.

THE OPPOSITION
The recent appointment of former Welling boss Bradley Quinton has coincided with an upturn in form for the Tudors and they come into the game in DA16 off the back of back-to-back wins.

Hemels’ last outing saw them take all three points from high-flying Dartford with a 3-1 victory at Princes Park last weekend.

They currently find themselves in 13th position in the Vanarama National League South table with nine wins, six draws and 11 defeats from their 26 games, so far, one point and one place ahead of the Wings, having played a game more.

PRE-MATCH CHAT
Warren Feeney: “The boys know when they’re hurt and they’re working hard. The goals we’ve conceded are preventable so we need to tidy up a few things, get a positive attitude around the club and get the boys smiling again.”

Hemel Hempstead Town boss, Bradley Quinton: “I’m trying to improve the players to get them to play with confidence, but also to work hard for one another and that’s the ethos that I’ve had wherever I’ve been as a player or a coach. The boys have listened and the dressing room is buzzing at the minute.”

LAST MEETING
Hemel Hempstead Town 2 Welling United 3
The last meeting between the Wings and the Tudors saw Welling stage a stunning, quickfire comeback from two goals down in the reverse fixture back in August.

Josh Castiglione and Jordan Greenidge put the hosts two goals up before half-time, but three goals in five minutes saw the Wings claw back to claim all three points thanks to a Stefan Payne double either side of Antony Papadopoulos’ strike to claim a 3-2 win.

Stefan Payne reels away after scoring the winner in the Wings’ 3-2 victory at Hemel Hempstead in August.

REF WATCH
Andrew Humphries will be the man with the whistle on Saturday. He has taken charge of 15 games, so far, this term and last refereed the Wings for the 3-0 home defeat to St Albans City in October.

He will be assisted by Christopher Poole and Gary Connell.
