Welling United return home to Park View Road on Saturday as Concord Rangers visit Kent (3pm).

The Wings are going in search of a first win on home turf since New Year’s Day as they look to put a frustrating run at Park View Road behind them.

They come into the game off the back of a pair of goalless draws on the road and will hope that those positive performances will be built upon this weekend with all three points.

Indeed, Welling have shared the points on five occasions in the last 10 games, winning twice and losing three.

THE OPPOSITION
Concord are fighting for their lives at the foot of the Vanarama National League South table, sitting in 24th position with 28 points, seven points adrift from safety, although they do have four games in hand on Dulwich Hamlet in 20th position.

The Beach Boys have enjoyed only won once in 2023 and have lost three and drawn two of their last five outings, but came so close to all three points at Chippenham Town last weekend.

2-0 up going into injury-time against the 10-man Bluebirds, Concord threw away victory by conceding in the 90th and 95th minute, preventing then from gaining ground on their relegation rivals.

In total, the Essex side have won seven, drawn seven and lost 17 of their 31 games played, so far, this term.

PRE-MATCH CHAT
Warren Feeney: “It’s tough with the amount of games at the moment, but we just have to get on with it. We have to dust the boys down, see who’s fit and go again.

“We have to have the right mentality. It’s a tough, tough game against Concord because they’re down there fighting for their lives and they were so unlucky last weekend against Chippenham.

“We’ve got to make sure we’re on our game and get everyone behind us.”

Concord boss Rob Small: “We have to believe in the players that we’ve got, and I do. We have to believe in ourselves, our work and what we ask the players to do.

“We have to dust ourselves down, swallow the disappointment and find a way to win the next game.”

LAST TIME OUT
The Wings played out a 1-1 draw with the Beach Boys in Essex in the reverse fixture back in November.

Warren Feeney’s men were made to play out the majority of the game with just 10 men after Sid Nelson was shown a second yellow card in the 21st minute.

Despite the disadvantage, Welling took the lead through Taylor Maloney, but were pegged back before half-time by Louis Ramsey’s leveller.

REF WATCH
Steven Hughes will be the man in the middle on Saturday afternoon.

He has taken charge of 20 games, so far, this season, but it will be the first time he has refereed a Wings fixture since the 1-0 victory at Dulwich Hamlet back in January 2022.

Kieran Bailey and David Ellis will be his assistants.
