Welling United make the short journey down the A2 on Saturday as their season continues with a trip to unbeaten Ebbsfleet United (3pm).

The Wings will be looking to bounce back after the disappointment of last weekend’s defeat to St Albans City – a first league loss in seven – and will be boosted by the arrival of two new faces in the form of Iraq international Yaser Kasim and former Millwall defender Sid Nelson, who has joined on a short-term loan.

THE OPPOSITION
Ebbsfleet are one of only two unbeaten teams left in the top six tiers of English football (alongside Havant & Waterlooville) and sit top of the National League South table with an impressive 10 wins and one draw from their 11 games, so far.

2022/23 is Fleet’s third term in the sixth tier following relegation from the National League in 2020 and, after losing in last season’s promotion final, have expectations to make a return this time around under German boss Dennis Kutrieb.

PRE-MATCH TALK
Warren Feeney: “When you’re playing games against the league-leaders, you have to look forward to it. It will excite our boys. We’ll go there, like every game, with confidence, and show them the utmost respect and treat it like any other game.

“As I’ve said before, we fear no one. It’s a bit of a free hit because they’re favourites, so it’s one we can go and enjoy.”

Ebbsfleet boss Dennis Kutrieb: “This is the last week where we’ve had the whole week to prepare and now we don’t really have any time to prepare anything as we play Saturday-Tuesday.

“We need to make sure we prepare the right way for Welling and St Albans. It’s important to win your home games, from 46 games you have 23 at home so if you could win every one of them that would make a big advantage.”
