Welling United hit the road again on Tuesday evening for the second of two consecutive away games when they head to Braintree Town (7.45pm).

The Wings’ squad has been left battered and bruised from a heroic performance at unbeaten league-leaders Ebbsfleet United on Saturday which saw them walk away with a point with nine men and will be left galvanised from the nature of the battle.

Warren Feeney’s men remain unbeaten away from home in the league this season and they will be looking to extend that record in Essex, while aiming for a first victory in six league outings.

THE OPPOSITION
The Iron currently occupy sixth place in National League South with seven wins, two draws and four defeats from their 13 games, so far.

They come into the game off the back of two wins on the bounce having earned a 2-1 victory at Eastbourne Borough on Saturday.

Braintree have enjoyed an excellent record on home turf this season and remain unbeaten at the Dunmow Group Stadium with four wins and two draws.

PRE-MATCH CHAT
Warren Feeney: “We’re out on our legs, but it’s a good thing to have, because performances like that [on Saturday] guide players to where they want to go.

“It will galvanise them and they will dust themselves off and be ready for Tuesday night.”

LAST TIME OUT

The last meeting between the two sides in Essex came in January with the Wings coming back from two goals down to earn a point from a 2-2 draw.

Braintree took the lead 10 minutes before the break through Matt Johnson, before doubling it two minutes into the second half thanks to Kyran Clements.

But Welling fought back with Dipo Akinyemi pulling one back just after the hour-mark, before Aaron Barnes netted a 75th-minute leveller.
