Welling United head to the Kuflink Stadium to take on Ebbsfleet United in the last eight of the Kent Senior Cup on Tuesday evening (7.45pm).

The quarter-final tie offers a welcome distraction to the Wings following a disappointing result in the league at the weekend and will provide a vital opportunity for a number of players to receive minutes and look to impress.

THE OPPOSITION
Fleet have been flying high at the top of the Vanarama National League South table all season and are sure to be crowned champions in the coming weeks.

Like Welling, they are likely to utilise their squad on Tuesday evening to give opportunities to those in need of a run-out.

Their last Kent Senior Cup tie saw them field a young side against holders Dartford in February, securing a 2-1 victory thanks to goals either side of half-time from Shaq Coulthirst and Darren McQueen.

CUP HISTORY
The Wings have lifted the Kent Senior Cup on four occasions in their history, including once as Bexleyheath & Welling, having reached the final 10 times, most recently in 2017 when they were beaten by Dover Athletic.

Their last triumph came in 2009 with a 6-1 final victory over Whitstable Town.

Ebbsfleet, meanwhile, have won the competition eight times having reached 13 finals with their last success coming in the form of a 2014 win over Dover.

LAST TIME OUT
Welling and Ebbsfleet played out a memorable encounter at the Kuflink Stadium in the league back in October, with the Wings earning a dramatic 1-1 draw with nine men.

Having gone ahead through Yaser Kasim after 20 minutes, the visitors had Stefan Payne and James Dunne sent off before half-time, with Craig Tanner netting a leveller deep into first-half stoppage time.

With their backs up against the wall, the Wings defended excellently until Fleet were awarded a penalty in the ninth minute of injury-time.

But Kai McKenzie-Lyle would prove to be the hero, keeping out Rakish Bingham’s spot-kick at the death to ensure a share of the spoils.
