Welling United’s Emirates FA Cup journey continues with a third qualifying-round tie at Weymouth on Saturday.

The Wings come into the cup clash in good form, unbeaten in seven in all competitions, but will be looking to pick themselves up following two draws over the last week in which they gave up leads late on.

Having beaten Fisher via a replay in the last round, Warren Feeney will be hoping to get the job done at the Bob Lucas Stadium to earn a place in the final qualifying round and get within touching distance of the first-round proper.

THE OPPOSITION
Having been relegated from the Vanarama National League last term after two seasons, Weymouth have found life back in the sixth tier tough going, lying bottom of the league without a win in their 10 games, so far, drawing twice and losing eight.

The start has prompted a change in management with David Oldfield being replaced by Bobby Wilkinson earlier this month.

The Terras have found some respite in the FA Cup, however, with their only victory of the season coming in the previous round in the form of a 3-1 win at Winchester City and they will surely be looking for another boost in fortunes in the cup this weekend.

PRE-MATCH TALK
Warren Feeney: “I’ve watched Weymouth and I think they’re in a false position. They look decent under their new manager, but we’re in a good run and we’re enjoying our football at this moment in time.

“It’s a cup game and the FA Cup is a special tournament. We’re not going to go and win the tournament, but we want to go as far as we can and we want that win to breed confidence.”

Weymouth boss Bobby Wilkinson: ““I want to win in the FA Cup for the board, the club and the fans. “t’s a distraction away from the league but we’re up against one of the best teams in the league who are flying at the moment.

“It’s not going to be easy, but can we improve? Can we show the same energy and commitment?

“If we can, we’ll have ourselves a chance. We need to carry on momentum. We didn’t win (on Tuesday) but we’re improving.”
