A spirited 2nd half performance went unrewadred as Welling failed to win for the 8th straight away game at title chasing Woking.
Toby Edser went close within the first minute in the game for Woking when he swivled and then shot over the bar as Woking showed no signs of a hangover from their FA Cup game with Watford just three days earlier.
Matt Paterson had a half chance go over as he likewise swivled and shot over the bar for the Wings
Edser tried his luck again with a free kick but his effort that was low and firm flashed wide of the post.
Thierry Audel then headed a Mendy cross straight into the arms of keeper Craig Ross. Within a minute of this chance Woking went ahead. Ross played an expert kick out to Josh Casey who burst down the wing only to be fouled by Josh Hill. Edser hit a low free kick that was sliced by Mendy at the front post sending it over the head of Welling keeper Dan Wilks and perfectly set up Jack Cook who nodded home into the empty net
Jamar Loza then had a shot beaten away by Wilks as Woking sensed a 2nd.
Welling were conceding alot of cheap free kicks on the ege of the area again Edser took the free kick but this time it curled over the bar. Welling then came close to equalising Kissock sent a teasing free kick into the area and a combination of Theirry Audel and Danny Mills appeared to bundle the ball over the line only for the linesman to flag for offside.
Woking should have doubled thier advanatge in first half stoppage time but after getting into a great posotion Harvey Bradbury played in Edser but his effort was saved by Wilks.
Welling who for the majority of the 1st half were camped in their own half came out for the 2nd half with a bit more intensity. Early in the 2nd half The Wings won a free kick on the edge of the area, Bradley Goldberg took it and it caused Keeper Ross problems as he misjduged the flight of the ball and palmed it away.
Woking had a good opportunity shortly after but Edser shot wide from close range.
Welling then made a double sub with Goldberg and Mendy being replaced by Kiernan and McCallum and this seem to spark Welling into life. Danny McNamara went on a lung bursting run into the box before his effort was delfected for a corner.
Gavin McCallum whose set pieces caused Woking problems delivered a corner, Audel headed back into the area for Brendan Kiernan but he could only poke over.
McNamara then set up Mills but he fired fired over as Welling looked to find an equaliser.
They came even closer in their next attack when McCallum picked out Hill from a free kick but his header hit the inside of the post and rolled along the goal line before being hacked away.
Another set piece saw Hill head goalwards but Ross beat it away. David Ijaha then hit an effort over the bar as Welling searched in vain for an equaliser.
However in the 83rd minute Woking scores a fortuitous second. The home side piled forward on the counter-attack. The ball found its way to Greg Luer who took a pot shot that took a deflection that looped over Dan Wilks and into the top corner, to kill off The Wings hopes.
