Welling United put a difficult week behind them to beat Watford under 23s with a smart performance.
Having lost Adam Coombes in the week to big spending Billericay Town, manager Steve King was quick to replace Coombes and brought in Danny Mills from Ebbsfleet a player known well to King.
Mills looked lively from the outset and almost got on the end of a Jack Jebb corner but directed his diving header just over.

Mills had another opportunity when heading Craig Braham-Barrett’s cross but his effort was tipped over by Sam Howes.
Bradley Goldberg was next to go close using his pace to create a shot that was well saved by Howes.
In a lively game Watford saw Randeell Williams break but again Wilks was quick off his line to block the shot with his legs.
Welling then took the lead thanks to persistency from Mills. Joy Mukena failed to clear his lines properly before Mills stole the ball of if him and calmly slotted past Howes to open his account.
However the lead did not last long, Jakubiak was allowed to run at The Wings defence before he struck a lovely shot past Wilks and into comer of the net.
Watford found some confidence and had two chances to go ahead just before half time. Williams put an effort wide from close range before Folivi headed an effort over the bar.
Into the 2nd half Jebb delivered an excellent corner that was miscued by Williams and almost ended up as an own goal.
The Wings went ahead shortly after Mills was in the thick of it again as he set up a trialist who calmly slotted home.
Nassim L’Ghoul was introduced and didn’t take long to get an assist on the score sheet for The Wings 3rd. His mazy run saw him pull the ball back to Nathaniel Pinney who tapped home.
L’Ghoul was at the heart of all the Welling play at the end as he brought a fine save from the keeper late on.
