Going into the game The Aspect Arena home of Concord Rangers had previously been a happy hunting ground for Welling but the run of good results at the ground came to an abrupt end as The Wings produced a below par performance as they slumped to defeat.

It was in fact Welling who started the game brightly, in the 4th minute after clever work in the area Bradley Goldberg was blocked by a smart save from Chris Haigh. A long throw into the box by Antony Cook was flicked on by Rob Swaine where Goldberg hit a stinging volley that went just over the bar.

Rob Swaine then headed a Gavin McCallum corner over the bar as Welling started brightly. Concord weathered the Welling storm and Danny Green saw a free kick blocked by the Welling wall just outside the area. However in the 21st minute the home side took the lead. Former Wings man Joel Nouble bustled his way down the Welling right crossed and Reynolds was on hand to tap home.

After this goal the game changed, Concord grew in confidence and they almost doubled their lead when Reynolds controlled a cross into the box but volleyed straight at Wilks. McCallum saw a weak effort go wide as Welling tried to get back into the game. Jay Rich-Baghuelou then skimmed a header wide from a free kick. Adam Coombes seemed to have got the better of Pollock but despite seemingly get pulled down as he was about to burst clear the foul was waved away.

Into the 2nd half and any Wings fans looking for their side to build on a 1st half that they strayed well in were left disappointed as Concord dominated.

Free kick specialist Danny Green curled a free kick just wide from 25 yards out. Keeper Chris Haigh got lucky as he dropped a Welling corner under pressure but the ball bounced just wide of the post for another corner.

However in the 61st minute Concord doubled their lead. With the Wings failing to clear their lines the ball was squared to Nouble who smashed the ball past Wilks.

Concord were now in the driving seat and Wilks had to be at his very best to deny Sheriff from close range. However in the 73rd minute Concord made the game safe as more suspect defending let the home side in and Krasniqi was on hand to tap home from close range. With the game out of Welling’s reach they had their one and only effort on goal in the whole of the 2nd half when Haigh made a good save to deny Goldberg.

After 3 minutes of injury time Referee Mr Humphries brought to an end a
miserable afternoon for a below par Welling side. They get a chance to bounce back on Tuesday night with Eastbourne Borough the visitors to PVR. 7.45pm kick Off
