CLUB STATEMENT | Peter Taylor
The club is delighted to announce the appointment of Peter Taylor as the new First Team Manager.
Peter has had an illustrious football career both as a player and then subsequently as a Manager, managing not only in the Premier League with Leicester City as well as various Football League Clubs (leading teams to promotion on four separate occasions), but also at international level with the England Under 21 team and Under 20 team.
Peter has taken charge of the First Team’s training session today and his first game in charge will be on Saturday away to Oxford.

Pete
Great news, listening to Peter Taylor’s comments should encourage a positive attitude for both supporters and the Welling squad. His work ethic and knowledge of football should be inspiring to all, obviously having only just watched Saturdays 0-6 result and taking 2 training sessions with the squad is not ideal preparation for PT to be on the front foot for our next game against Oxford but it is what it is. I just hope he gives all squad members a chance to prove their skills, attitude, work ethic and team spirit before calling in loan player favours to try and achieve a quick fix which may undermine the current squads confidence.
We all see the game differently and most of us see players we believe are not giving 100% and others on the bench or not even on the team sheet we think should at least be given 90 minutes to try and prove their worth to the team. One to one meetings with all players and staff are essential for the new manager to gauge what he has available, also I wonder if only two training days is enough at the present time to turn things around ?
