SAG 2009/10
The SAG campaign for the 2009/10 season proved successful, with a total of
£1786 being pledged. Many thanks to all members of the scheme for their
support and for making payments according to their pledges. The actual
total collected against these pledges was £1670.50, representing a
collection level of 93.5% - a highly satisfactory success rate.

The scheme will operate again next season, and support from current and new members would be greatly appreciated to help fund improvements for the club and the fans. Please see Ken at any pre-season match or make contact by e-mail to this site and the message can be passed on. Details of how the scheme operates can be found on the SAG page of this website.

Final WSU Quiz Night of the Season
The final WSU Quiz Night of the Season was held on Friday 7th May and saw another win for the Ken Dodd's Dad's Dog's Dead Team (table 6) who finished 20 points clear of table 8 with 95 points to 79.5, helped by a storming 27-point marathon round, which they were only 2 and-a-half points ahead going into, in which they identified African nations from a map outline. Table 7 was third on 77 points.

The fast becoming quickly-coveted booby prize of Smarties for last place was shared between tables 1 and 11 with 45 points. £25 Stand-up bingo winners were Martin Beswick and Gary Meyler.

Thank you if you've attended a quiz this year, which have been marvellously supported, particularly during the second half of the season. We now take a break for the Summer and return on Friday 3 September. Come and see us at the WSU Desk /Club Shop on matchdays early next season to register your team or ring Mark Fenton on 07836 577940.

But there's still plenty for Wings fans to occupy themselves with (see elsewhere on the website). We've the Dog Night at Crayford Greyhound Stadium on Friday 21st May, England's World Cup group matches (and possibly other future matches as well) in the Wings Bar during June and our stall at the Danson Festival on Saturday and Sunday 3rd and 4th July.

Have a good Summer!

End of Season Presentation Evening
Welling United Football Club held their End of Season Presentation Evening for the 2009/10 season on Saturday 24th April at the idyllic, not to mention very local, venue of the Danson Boathouse.

Jamie and the lads gathered for a 3-course dinner, speeches, a Goal of the Season video vote and a review of the season before live music from local band and Welling friends from a previous Wings Bar Music Night, The Feelers. Welling United President, Eric Brackstone, once again kindly presented the awards.

Andy Pugh grabbed the Goal of the Season award for his long-range effort away to Bishop's Stortford in January. Welling Coach, Dean Frost, accepted the award on Andy's behalf.

Lee Clarke was re-awarded the Blue Square South Player of the Month award for March.

Graeme Andrews was awarded Players' Player of the Year.

Charlie Mitten had earlier been awarded Supporters' Player of the Year earlier in the day in Welling's final game of the season, at home to Basingstoke Town. But there were awards for the first three in that category with Lee Clarke coming third and Jack Parkinson second.

Jamie thanked everyone for attending and the WSU for organising the event, and congratulated the lads for transforming a season that saw the Wings just fall short at the crucial time.
