Welling secured a vital three points with a dominate 2nd half display, a brace a piece from Alex Cathline and Pierre Joesph-Dubois sending The Wings up to 15th in the table.
It what has been another turbulent week at Park View Road, Welling saw Alex Dyer come in to take charge alongside Tristian Lewis as Harry Wheeler left to take control at Billericay Town.
In glorious April sunshine, Welling dominated from the start.
The first chance fell to Alex Cathline who did well to make space for a shot and he brought a fine save out of Nick Jordan.
A low rasping Sam Hatton effort grazed the post with Gosport keeper Jordan beaten at full stretch.
It only seemed a matter of time before Welling would go ahead but Nick Jordan produced a superb save denying a towering Ben Martin header from a corner.
Danny Waldren then failed to turn his header in from another excellent Murrell-Williamson corner.
With Welling failing to take their chances, The Wings seemed to become frustrated and lost their way slightly as the first half drew to a close. It saw Gosport go close with a Ben Wright header straight at Chris Lewington.
Just 20 seconds into the 2nd half The Wings took the lead Welling. Cathline powered his way into the box before his cross come shot was tapped into the roof of the net by Pierre Joesph-Dubois.
Gosport almost made an Immediate reply The Wings losing focus slightly after the goal and they were grateful to Chris Lewington who got down low to prevent Tony Lee’s effort from heading in.
It was made even more vital 5 minutes later as Joseph-Dubois doubled the lead and scored his 2nd. Dan Walker bursting into the box crossing for Joesph-Dubois who expertly turned the ball home from close range.
Alex Cathline added a 3rd for The Wings in the 60th minute picking the ball up on the edge of the area and blasting his effort past Jordan not a bad way to score his first goal in a Welling shirt.
Welling were in full control and Dan Walker hit the post but Welling not to be denied a 4th. A cross from the left was met by Joseph-Dubois, Jordan kept out his header with a fine save, but Cathrine was first to react and prodded the ball home.
With the game won, Gosport had chances for a consolation but Lewington again made a low save from Lee.
Gosport then won a free kick 25 yards from goal and Ben Wright’s powerful free kick was heading in but Chris Lewington beated the effort away.
Cathline almost capped his performance with a hat trick but his effort was saved by the legs of Jordan, who was the away side man of the match despite the scoreline.
Welling now face Truro City at home on Good Friday. Kick off 3pm.
