Welling picked up their first home point since early November as they grounded out a draw with Truro City.
Callum Driver came straight into the squad and impressed on debut and Jack Jebb was recalled to the starting line up as Welling’s formation was tinkered with again.
In the very 1st minute a Jack Jebb corner found Jack Parkinson at the far post but he slid his effort just wide.
A long ball over the top saw Tom Bradbrook hold of his marker but he looped his effort well wide.
Welling took the lead in the 18th minute, Jack Jebb crossed the ball centrally into the area and his cross evaded everyone to find the corner of the net, maybe with the assistance of Jack Parkinson outstretched boot, video replay will determine that.
Welling held the lead for just six minutes though. The Wings defence failed to clear their lines as Cody Cooke was allowed to turn in the area and slot past Sandford.
Bradley Goldberg made space for a shot but curled just wide as The Wings tried to rally.
Ryan Sandford then saved at his near post from Tyler Harvey as the game became stretched.
But the score was level at the break.
Welling had the ball in the net just two minutes into the 2nd half, Ben Jefford crossed for Goldberg who glanced his headed into the net only to see it ruled out for a very dubious offside decision.
Salt was rubbed into the wound when Truro took the lead minutes later. Connor Riley-Lowe played the ball to Tyler Harvey over on the left and he hit a low effort from an acute angle past Sanford which found the corner of the net.
But The Wings responded and they equalised soon after. Goldberg was fouled on the edge of the area. Upstepped Jack Jebb who arrowed his free kick into the roof of net with McHale a spectator as it flew past him.
This goal opened the game up once more with Aaron Lamont hitting an effort against the bar for Truro before in the same passage of play Callum Driver rifled a shot from range just over.
The lively Cooke headed a Harvey cross just wide. Then a Jebb corner found Harry Phipps but he headed wide.
Both teams pushed for the winner as McHale saved well from Bradley Goldberg before Truro almost won it when Harvey shot wide in injury time. That would have been harsh on Welling who did enough to warrant a point.
The Wings now have a break from action before they head into the Christmas period with a tough away game at Chelmsford City on Saturday 23rd December.
