The games continue to come thick and fast as Welling United head to Aveley on Monday evening (7.45pm).

The trip to Essex provides an immediate opportunity for the Wings to bounce back, just two days after the disappointment of Saturday’s defeat at Weston Super Mare.

Danny Bloor will be looking for a response from his side as they aim to lift themselves up the Vanarama National League South table. Victory would put Welling on 22 points, equal with Truro City and Slough Town in 20th and 19th place respectively.

Crossley Lema will be a doubt after he withdrew with injury during the warm-up on Saturday, while Will Wood will also be assessed after being forced off with a hamstring complaint.

Mitchell Dickenson remains a long-term injury absentee, while Taylor Curran will also be sidelined.

THE OPPOSITION

Aveley have enjoyed a hugely successful couple of seasons having enjoyed back-to-back promotions to earn their place in the National League South for the first time.

Their progression has continued into this campaign with the Millers surprising many by hitting the ground running in 2023/24 with an impressive season, so far.

They currently sit in fourth position with 10 wins, four draws and seven defeats from their 21 games, so far.

Aveley are, however, without a win in their least five league outings with three defeats and two draws and come off the back Saturday’s loss at home to Farnborough in which they spurned a 3-1 lead late on before being beaten 4-3.

PRE-MATCH CHAT

Danny Bloor: “I want as many fans as possible to get there if they can on Monday. Stick with us because it’s been crystal clear – we’ve had the highs of Dartford and Yeovil, and winning in the FA Trophy – it’s going to be a rollercoaster.

“We need to get stability and we need to make sure we remain in National League South. There’s going to be good days and bad days and Saturday was a bad day.”
