Welling United came from behind to win 2-1 against Tamworth in the FA Trophy Second Round replay on Tuesday evening. The Wings dominated early proceedings but it was the Lambs that took the lead just before the break. Two late goals from Jamie Day and Andrew Sam saw Welling through to the next round.

Adrian Pennock's side had the better of the opening exchanges and could have been three up within the first 10 minutes. Che Stadhart fired over just seconds after the kick-off. Jose Veiga denied Steve Harper on 3 minutes before Steve Perkins shot over 10 minutes in.

Tamworth's first chance of the half saw Paul Hyde push James Price's free-kick onto the bar on 19 minutes.

Wings striker Harper should have given his side the lead on the half hour mark. A poor clearance from Lambs keeper Jose Veiga fell to Harper but with an open goal in front of him, he could only manage to hit the side netting.

Welling's failure to capitalise on their early chances allowed Tamworth to steal the lead in first half injury time. Edwards was able to turn and shoot past the diving Hyde into the back of the net.

The second half looked set to be an uninspiring midfield battle until the introduction of Andrew Sam, who turned the game on its head.

Sam made an immediate impact and help created the equaliser on 76 minutes. A swift passing move between Sam, Stadhart and Goodfellow allowed Jamie Day to score via a deflection.

However, just moments later Tamworth were inches away from regaining the lead. Taiwo Atieno's effort was parried as far as Edwards whose header bounced off the bar into the hands of a relieved Hyde.

With time ticking by it was the Wings that looked the likelier to score and with 7 minutes remaining they did just that. Jamie Day's corner was headed down by the bandaged Steve Perkins for Sam who poked the ball home.

Welling welcome Worcester City to Park View Road on Saturday in the FA Trophy Third Round, kick-off 2:00pm.

Come on you Wings!
