Welling United beat league leaders AFC Wimbledon 1-0 on Saturday afternoon. Sanchez Ming scored the second half winner in a game that Wings fans will cherish for a long time to come.
Welling were quick out of the blocks and forced a corner just seconds into the game. The set-piece was swung in and found Moses Ademola at the far post but the striker fired well over.
Ademola was involved again on 23 minutes when he slid in James Baker. However, former Wings keeper James Pullen was on hand to deny Baker's close range shot.
Shortly after Charlie Mitten took two attempts to fully stop Jon Main's vicious shot from flying in, which incidentally was AFC Wimbledon's first real effort on goal.
32 minutes in and Welling should have taken the lead. Intelligent play from Baker allowed him to set-up Ademola whose shot from just yards out was parried by Pullen. The loose ball then fell to Sanchez Ming but the midfielder couldn't quite slot home from a tight angle.
Five minutes before the break the frustration continued when Pullen saved Ming's effort after Sam Hurrell's excellent cross.
On the stroke of half-time Mitten produced an excellent save to stop Sam Hatton's free-kick from giving the homeside the lead.
It was an even start to the second period with both sides having plenty of possession but failing to create any goal scoring opportunities.
However, this barren spell was soon over as the visitors created an abundance of chances.
Jack Parkinson headed wide on the hour mark before Andy Ford's side had a goal disallowed. Substitute Ryan Johnson saw his shot eventually bundled home by Hurrell but he was adjudged to be offside and the goal did not count.
Nevertheless, Welling wouldn't have long to wait before finally being able to celebrate. On 73 minutes a brilliant run into the box from Hurrell allowed the winger to hit a shot, which was pushed onto the post by Pullen and into the path of Ming who smashed the ball into the roof of the net to give the visitors a deserved lead.
Welling could have so easily of scored at least two more with both Baker and Ademola squandering one on one's.
AFC Wimbledon huffed and puffed towards the end but couldn't find a way past the rock solid Welling defence and the final whistle was blown. There were then scenes of jubilation as both the Welling players and supporters celebrated a win that will live long in their memories.
Next up, Welling travel to Maidenhead United on Saturday, kick-off 3:00pm.
Come on you Wings!
