Welling came from behind to win 2-1 away at Sutton on Saturday. Sutton took an early lead through Craig Dundas before Robbie Ryan equalised for the Wings from a free-kick. Orlando Smith scored the winner on 65 minutes with a superb solo goal.

Sutton began brightly with Steffan Ball causing some early problems for the Wings defence. Inside a minute of kick-off the striker hit a teasing cross but the relegated side failed to capitalise.

Leon Solomon started his first game for the Wings since 15th March and would have certainly impressed Boss Andy Ford with his display. Solomon had a shot deflected wide on 10 minutes.

The homeside took the lead two minutes later when a through pass split the Welling defence and found Craig Dundas, who slotted past Jamie Turner into the back of the net.

Welling were second best in the opening 25 minutes but nevertheless drew themselves level. Orlando Smith was brought down just outside the area and Robbie Ryan stepped up to hit a curling free-kick straight into the top corner.

Orlando Smith hit an effort wide before Rob Hughes fired a free-kick inches wide for Sutton. Jamie Turner denied Dundas his second on the half hour when the Wings number 1 made an excellent save from close range.

The Wings continued to create chances with Sonny Cobbs striking wide and Solomon having a vicious shot superbly saved by Phil Wilson.

After the break and Solomon hit the bar twice in a matter of minutes. The first was a strike from long range that crashed off the bar and the second, a header bouncing back off the upright from a corner.

Michael Kamara was caught in possession on 48 minutes when the defender failed to clear a dangerous ball, which nearly allowed Liam Wright to nick a goal.

With 25 minutes left on the clock Orlando Smith scored the winning goal. The winger beat four Sutton defenders and ran across goal before scoring with a clinical finish to make it 2-1.

The Wings could have made it 3-1 five minutes later when Sam Gargan prodded agonisingly wide from Max Ellison-Hustwick's knock down.

The misery continued for Sutton when Alan Bray was rightly sent off late on. Bray made a poor challenge on substitute Ellis Green and then hit out at the winger as he lay injured on the floor. With the assistant and referee in full view of the incident, Bray was quickly dismissed.

Smith shot wide on the stroke of full-time before the referee blew his whistle to confirm the three points went to the side from Park View Road.

Welling welcome Bishop's Stortford to PVR on Tuesday 22nd April, kick-off 7.45pm.

Come on you Wings!
