Welling United lost 4-0 at home to league leaders Lewes on Saturday. Goals from Paul Booth, Hamid Barr and Dale Binns made it 3-0 all within the opening 10 minutes. The Second half saw Omari Coleman miss a penalty for the Wings before Gary Holloway made it 4-0.
The Wings starting line-up included a number of new faces but even they were powerless to stop the table-toppers opening 10-minute rampage. Former Welling striker Paul Booth was the first to score. Simon Wormull's stunning strike was tipped onto the bar by Jamie Turner and the resulting loose ball allowed Dale Binns to set up Booth to slot home.
Wings captain Richard Carpenter then fired just wide before Lewes made it 2-0. Omari Coleman was dispossessed on the halfway line and the ball eventually found Booth who slid to ball into the path of Hamid Barr to score his first for the club.
The goals didn't stop there and within the blink of an eye the Rooks were 3 up. A sweeping move saw Booth again involved and the striker crossed for Dale Binns to nod past Turner.
Just before the break the deserved man of the match Orlando Smith had an effort saved by Steven Williams.
After the interval the Wings dominated the top team and could have scored two or three. However, Welling's goal drought continued as Omari Coleman missed a spot-kick and then fired wide when through on goal three minutes later.
The homeside continued to press but just could not put the ball in the back of the net. Loan signing Sam Gargan had a flick parried wide before Lewes increased their lead further. Binns had a shot come back off the post and fall kindly for Gary Holloway to prod home for his third of the season.
Next up Welling welcome Grays Athletic to Park View Road in the Setanta Shield Fourth Round on Tuesday evening.

Extracts from Interview:
"We got clapped off the pitch which shows how well we did second half. It was just the first ten minutes that killed us, 3-0 down after ten minutes. The reason being is that we have not played in three weeks, we came out rusty, we had a lot of new players and they took advantage of it. They are a great team, they pass for fun and they have being playing with each over for three years.
Mucu and Ellis down the lines absolutely crucified them. That's the third penalty we have missed this season. If you count our chances compared to their chances I think we had more but we ended up losing 4-0. We need a manager who is organised but the squad we have is not far off a top half Conference South team."
