It was a quiet first half with neither team creating very many chances. The two teams were limited to half chances with Welling and Eastleigh both having headers comfortably saved.
The game finally burst into life on 36 minutes when Welling took a surprising lead. With Eastligh being certain favourites for the game, it was an unlikely scorer that put the Wings 1-0 up. Fabian Quintyn did well to drive into the box before passing to Ross Montague who laid the ball off for Solomon to curl the ball home for his first Welling goal.
Welling may have gone in at 2-0 but Quintyn drilled over when under pressure from Chris Piper.
Into the second period and it only took 10 minutes for the Wings to double their advantage. Good link-up play between Quintyn and Marlon Patterson allowed the new winger to cross for Montague who saw his deflected shot fired in by Quintyn.
Welling were by far the better side, playing some excellent football and it wasn't long before it was 3-0. Richard Carpenter hit a looping free-kick over goalkeeper James Pullen for his first goal in a Wings shirt.
Eastleigh did create chances to get themselves back into the match with Paul Sales having a shot well saved by Clark Masters. Welling continued to press and Montague had an effort superbly stopped by Pullen in the Spitfires goal.
Eastleigh did pull one back on 79 minutes when Matt Hann fired a low shot past keeper Masters into the back of the net.
Nevertheless, Welling comfortably saw out the rest of the game and secured a deserved three points.
Next Saturday Welling welcome Barkingside to Park View Road in the FA Cup Second Qualifying Round.

Extracts from Interview:
"It was very good. I looked for a reaction from last Saturday, got one on Tuesday without getting the result but today I got both so very pleasing. The boys gave me everything they had, they have done it in training and now they have produced it on the pitch. I don't like picking out individuals but the two young boys Fabian Quintyn and Ross Montague were superb for us today.
Still disappointed we let a goal in, which takes the gloss off because we deserved to keep a clean sheet. Full credit to the boys. The supporters vented their frustrations last week but hopefully we have repaid them and shown we are committed to the cause. "
