Welling United lost 2-1 against Salisbury City but in controversial circumstances on Wednesday evening at Princes Park. Martin Carthy gave the Wings the lead on 24 minutes. Two goals in the second period from Robbie Matthews and Luke Prince secured the win for the visitors. Yet, in the dieing moments the Wings could have snatched a point but they had a goal disallowed when Danny Kedwell was dubiously given offside.

The visitors had the better of the opening exchanges, testing keeper Jamie Turner within seven minutes of kick-off. Robbie Matthew's hit a low shot straight at the Wings number 1.

Ten minutes later and Matt Tubbs went close to putting his side in front. Matt Robinson and Aaron Cook linked up well down the wing before pulling the ball back for Tubbs who forced Turner into an excellent save.

Against the run of play the Wings took the lead 24 minutes in. Hector Mackie's ball found Martin Carthy who headed home for his eighth of the season.

Despite having a effort cleared off the line Salisbury went in at the break 1-0 down. However, the second half would see the Whites come from behind to win the game.

Robbie Matthews equalised on 53 minutes when the forward was quickest to the lose ball and fired past Turner.

The Wings should have regained the lead when substitute Ellis Green's ball found Carthy unmarked just yards out but the midfielder couldn't quiet reach the cross.

Welling's failure to capitalise on their few chances allow Salisbury to take the lead. A superb strike 25-yards out from Luke Prince flew into the top corner.

Into injury-time and the Wings were denied a point when the offside flag was given against Danny Kedwell. Ellis Green's inch perfect cross found the Wings top-scorer free to head the ball home but the striker was adjudged to have been in an offside position.
Welling travel to Yeading on Saturday and the Wings will be looking for their first win at the Warren.

Come on you Wings!
