Richard started his playing career for Gillingham back in 1991.

Moved on to promotion winning spells at Fulham and Cardiff City before spending seven years at Brighton where he achieved three promotions including play-off against Bristol City at the Millennium Stadium.

Made over 250 appearances for the Seagulls before joining Welling United in February 2007.
