Rob Owen made way for new signing Martin Carthy whilst Steve Perkins replaced suspended Lee Gledhill, as Wings Boss Adrian Pennock looked for all three points against league strugglers Maidenhead.
Just like last week when Welling travelled to Hayes, it was the Wings that took an early lead. Welling's first attack of the game produced an early goal when Carthy knocked down a rightwing cross from Steve Perkins into the path of Che Stadhart who nodded the ball home.
The Wings continued to attack and were unlucky not to have doubled their lead on 15 minutes. Danny Kedwell pulled back a cross from the by-line for Matt Bodkin who unmarked at the far post hit a right foot volley but Carthy inadvertently blocked the shot and the effort went inches wide.
Further chances for Carthy and Kedwell were all squandered and Maidenhead took advantage for these missed opportunities.
Just after the half hour mark Maidenhead drew level. Former Wings striker Stephen Hughes broke down the right wing beating Chris Moore before crossing for Dean Bradshaw who volleyed home.
Kedwell forced Magpies keeper Scott Tarr into a good save just before the break but the Wings went into halftime certainly disappointed.
The frustration for the home side continued after the restart when Maidenhead took the lead 3 minutes into the second period. Mark Graham's free-kick was headed home by Chris Wild past the helpless Jamie Turner in the Welling goal.
Despite the setback, Welling clawed there way back into the game, a disallowed goal from Martin Carthy spurring the Wings on.
Welling were awarded a penalty on 72 minutes when Martin Carthy was pushed inside the box by Magpies midfielder Craig Lewington. Kedwell confidently stepped up and sent Maddened keeper Tarr the wrong way drawing the Wings level.
A second disallowed goal for Welling when the linesmen judged Che Stadhart offside would eventually prove to be fatal later on in the game.
Nevertheless, Welling took a deserved lead with just 10 minutes left on the clock. Some good work from Kedwell allowed the Wings striker to cross for Stadhart who at the far post side footed the ball home.
3 minutes into stoppage time and it was heartbreak for the Wings when the Magpies drew the match level at 3-3. A left wing corner was swung in and in a bundle of players Yashma Romeo somehow forced the ball home.
This may prove to be a huge dent in the Wings' playoff push but with games against 3 of the top six clubs coming up, their future is in their own hands. Welling travel to Havant & Waterlooville on Saturday where they will be hoping to get back on track with a win over the Hawks.
