Before the game kicked-off a total of three awards were given out, Adrian Pennock picked up his second successive Manager of the Month Award and Danny Kedwell collected the Nationwide Conference South Player of the Month Award both of which were for October. The third and final award was given to Leon Solomon, the WSU's player of the month.
Pennock made two changes to the side that lost to Weymouth last week, Danny Kedwell returned from injury and replaced Matt Bodkin, whilst new loan signing Luke Howell replaced Matt Lee at right-back.
After just four minutes the Wings went close to taking the lead, when Mark Green ran down the Wing and was through on goal but only managed to drag his shot wide. Minutes later and Dean Brennan brought Wings keeper Jamie Turner into action after a long-range free kick had to be parried wide for a corner.
Chris Moore then had a great chance to give the Wings the lead but headed just over from a Matt Carruthers' corner. Welling were awarded a free kick on the edge of the penalty area after a deliberate handball from Dean Hooper. Matt Carruthers stepped up but his right-footed free kick clipped the top of the crossbar.
The Wings eventually took the lead on the half hour mark. A Carruthers' right-wing corner was nodded on by Lee Shearer, which allowed Stadhart to head home from close range. Chris Moore could have doubled the lead after he missed a clear opportunity, heading just over the crossbar.
After a quiet start from the Rooks, Lewes came out the brighter side in the second half. A long-range effort from Owen Price was well saved by Jamie Turner before the Rooks equalised on the 73rd minute. Leon Legge was unmarked in the box and rose above the Wings defence to head home Dean Brennan's corner kick.
Jamie Day then had a golden opportunity to restore Welling's lead. Leon Solomon played Day through on goal, but he dragged his shot wide of the post, much to the frustration of the Home support.
However, the Wings made up for their missed chances when Matt Bodkin picked up the ball and ran through the visitors defence before unleashing an inch perfect cross which Daniel Moore headed into an open goal. Lewes had one final chance when Owen Price hit another long-range effort, but once again Jamie Turner made a fine save to deny the Rooks the equaliser.
Another superb win and performance from the Wings. Welling played some excellent football and deservedly won all the three points.
