After the 3-0 win over Dorchester on Saturday, Wings Boss Adrian Pennock stuck with the same line-up for the Bank Holiday Monday clash with Eastbourne Borough.

For the first 20 minutes it looked like Welling would continue where they left off at Dorchester on Saturday, creating numerous chances and controlling possession. Wings striker Che Stadhart had the majority of the early chances. A shot from an acute angle was well saved by Lee Hook and minutes later a diving header at the near post forced the Sports keeper into another magnificent save.

Welling took a deserved lead on 10 minutes when a Jamie Day corner was headed on by Danny Kedwell into the path of Matt Bodkin who volleyed the ball home.

Despite their early dominance the Wings took their foot off the gas and allowed Eastbourne back into the game. However, it took the Sports 20 minutes to find a reply when on the half hour mark a sublime passing move cut the Wings defence in two before Matt Smart fired the ball past Jamie Turner.

The second period saw little improvement from the Wings and much like the previous home game the opposition were allowed a foothold in the match.

The Wings did see a swerving Danny Kedwell shot hit the bar, but Welling were by far the second best team on the pitch.

Eastbourne were playing some superb football at times and creating numerous opportunities in the process. 6 minutes before the end the Sports hit the home side with a sucker punch when Scott Ramsay fired his side to victory.

A late cross come shot from Keith Rowland hit the bar but Eastbourne went home with all three points.

Come on you Wings!

Extracts from Interview with Adrian Pennock

I'm very disappointed, what can you say, absolutely gutted.

Very disappointing, disgusted, it's a kick in the privates, we struggle with teams at the bottom and its a very disappointing thing really.

We always start poor second half, I'm not one to cane the players but I thought the second goal was very basic, and we are all disappointed and just have to see what happens with the other results.

I don't know how the boys will turn up against Sutton because they are at the bottom, but we wont give up until its mathematical impossible to get promotion.
