After the ups and downs of last weekends double-header, Welling were hoping to get all three points at home to lowly Dorchester. Pennock made two changes to the side that drew to Eastbourne on Monday. Lee Gledhill and Lee Shearer, who was making his debut for the Wings, replaced Lew Watts and Daniel Moore .

The early kick-off certainly didn't deter the Wings from continuing where they left off at Eastbourne. As it took them only six minutes to take the lead.

The goal was created from a Jamie Day corner, which was won after a Perkins shot was cleared off the line. Day's corner was only half cleared by the Dorchester defence. The ball fell to Adrian Clarke who hit a fierce shot, which was parried to the path of Steve Perkins, who nodded the ball home to put the Wings in front.

Danny Kedwell was again on form and his hard work allowed Rob Owen to cross an inch perfect ball into the path of Adrian Clarke, which allowed him to score his first of the season. Welling were now two up inside ten minutes, and the fans couldn't have asked for anything better.

The Wings were dominating proceedings and playing some excellent football in the September sun. Dorchester, who were under increasing amounts of pressure where resorting to playing the majority of their side behind the ball in order to stop the likes on Kedwell increasing Welling's lead.

There was only so much Dorchester could do to stop the Wings star man, and it was only a matter of time before he too was on the scoresheet. On the half hour mark Kedwell scored his third of the season in fashionable style. A spectacular left-footed volley bounced off the post and flew into the goal. A contender for goal of the season, that's for sure!

As time ticked on Dorchester started to get back into the game and they were rewarded for their persistence. Six minutes before the break Gareth Keeping slotted home from close range to give the Magpies a glimmer of hope. In the lead up to the goal two clear fouls were made on Wing's players but the referee ignored the appeals and the goal was given. Welling went into the break slightly dejected from allowing Dorchester a glimmer of hope but no one expected the Wings to throw away a two-goal lead…

Dorchester made two substitutes during the break bringing on Jamie Brown and Justin Keeler, and what an impact they would make!

The Wings lead was reduced to one single goal six minutes into the restart. A Magpies free kick fell to Jamie Brown who smashed home from close range. The Wings allowed the Magpies far too much room and the marking left a lot to be desired.

Dorchester completed the comeback ten minutes later. Again the Wings were left flat footed after some nice neat passing sliced through the defence, which allowed Justin Keeler to slot pass Jamie Turner. The Wings had thrown away a three-goal lead against a side that conceded five last week.

However, this wouldn't be the last twist in the tale, especially when Danny Kedwell was in and around the box. Five minutes from time Welling were handed a get out of jail card from none other than Danny Kedwell.

A deep Jamie Day corner was missed by Nick Jones and the incoming Kedwell headed home from close range to secure all three points for Welling. Final score, Welling 4 Dorchester 3.

The Wings were lucky to have escaped with all three points, but if they can perform like they did in the first half, I am sure there will be many happy Wings fans come 5 o'clock next week.
