With the injuries of both James Pinnock and Steve Perkins midweek Adrian Pennock again had to shuffle the pack. Rob Owen was brought in for the injured Steve Perkins whilst Che Stadhart made his first start for the Wings since pre-season by replacing the injured James Pinnock.

Only two minutes into the game and the worst possible start for Welling as they found themselves 1-0 down! The Wings defence were caught off guard after Alex Browne headed in a Jamie Gleeson's free kick at the far post. Minutes later and the Wings were nearly level. A Jamie Day free kick was swung in and headed onto the bar by Danny Kedwell.

Despite going a goal down minutes into the game, it turned out not to be the wake-up call many expected. The Wings defence were again caught napping as a right-wing free kick from Mark Robinsion allowed Alex Browne another free header, which flew past Turner into the net. Luckily for Welling however, the linesmen waved for offside.

After a slow and hesitant start the Wings began to dominate play. 22 minutes into the game, Che Stadhart found himself one on one with Magpies keeper Craig Bradshaw, but miss hit his shot and a major chance went begging. Minutes before the break and again the Wings went close to equalising. Lee Shearer headed an Adrian Clarke corner onto the bar and the ball bounced inches in front of the goal line but Dorchester managed to clear the danger. Welling went into half time far the better side creating more of the clear-cut opportunities as the game progressed.

Five minutes into the second period and again the Wings went close. Jamie Day hit a fierce low drive from the edge of the area and Bradshaw had to make a good save to his right. The Wings equalised on 62 minutes with a great solo goal from Matt Bodkin. Bodkin dispossessed Simon Radcliffe inside his own half and ran with the ball for all of 50 yards turning the Dorchester defence inside out before unleashing a shot past the helpless Craig Bradshaw. Minutes later Che Stadhart got on the end of a Bodkin cross, but his header was a comfortable save for the Magpies keeper.

With ten minutes left on the clock the large Welling contingent were in cloud nine as Wings hitman Danny Kedwell secured a place in the first round proper. Danny Kedwell got on the end of Lee Gledhill's through pass and from close range smashed the ball into the back of the net. Despite a few nervy moments in stoppage time the Wings held on and were rewarded with a tie against League One side Huddersfield Town.
