Wings Boss Adrian Pennock made a few changes for this visit to the North East, including the additions of Adrian Clarke and Steve Perkins to the starting line up.

The travelling support was fantastic with the majority setting off at the early hours and flying up to Newcastle. A mention should also be made of the hosts who were very friendly and helped to make it a great day for all involved.

With the disappointment of losing to St Albans last week the team needed to pick themselves up and get back to winning ways.

From the outset the Wings established some control over the play enjoying the majority of the possession in this FA trophy tie. Nevertheless, it was the home side that came closest to opening the scoring. A left wing cross from Christian Graham found it's way to Peter Snowdon at the back post who headed into the arms of Jamie Turner.

After the half hour mark, Welling did at last make the break through when Jamie Day hit a ferocious 25-yard volley into the bottom left corner to make it 1-0 to the Wings.

14 minutes later Wings marksman Danny Kedwell headed the second goal from an Adrian Clarke corner.

With the Wings controlling the pace of the game they added a third in the second half, when Matt Bodkin made a superb run before linking up with Che Stadhart who put Rob Owen through to comfortably slot past keeper Craig Turns.

The afternoon was going well for the visitors, but with just 20 minutes left on the clock Steve Perkins was stretchered off with possible ligament damage after being fouled just outside the Wings penalty area. This gave Boss Adrian Pennock the opportunity to come on as substitute and show the cheering Wings supporters his ability on the pitch!

With 15 minutes left to play, Blyth pulled one back when Graham Fenton volleyed pasted Jamie Turner to give the home side supporters something to cheer about. This success was however slightly overshadowed when Blyth's Andrew Appleby brought down Jamie Turner with a dreadfully late challenge and was lucky to escape with just a yellow.

With the game ending 3-1, boss Adrian Pennock later made a point of saying "the result was for the fans, once again they were fantastic"!

The Wings now await the outcome of the draw for the next round and look forward to more success in both the Cup and the league!

Come on you Wings!
